Inflation woes

Just read the sunday times today and it mentioned sthing which i feel that will greatly impact everyone of us....e inflation rate is expected to rise up to 5% next year....

argh, this means that the cost of living is getting higher, w rising fuel prices all the way to rising consumption prices like bread etc....if inflation rate will to go up again, it means that saving in deposits might nt be adequate for meeting one's objective.....

i wonder now if there will come a time where the real interest rate is actually so low that it might nt b worthwhile to save in banks anymore, if so wat should i do then? invest in globally managed funds? mayb it would b an alternative but then i still hope to save for rainy days n i rather use my CPFIS funds to invest instead....it is really an irony if that will to happen as deposits are supposed to b less risky but now if the inflation will to rise up higher, it might become risky instead from the point that it might nt meet one's objectives...

Stronger sing also might that my purchasing power in sing is lower coz everything is getting more exp....so does this indicates that it is time for mi to go overseas and spend? a frenz of mine causually commented that w the subprime problem gg on in US, it might b actually a gd idea to go US since it is cheaper now compared to the past...but then i tink this idea shld b cast aside coz though the things might b cheaper elsewhere, the airfares might turn out that it is actually better to spend in singapore instead....perhaps as my parents would agree, it is better to exercise frugality now...this means that less shopping liao...i feel so broke now -_-
